Escalate Enterprises LLC, doing business as Comparsa ("Comparsa," "we," "us," or "our"), operates comparsa.app and the Comparsa mobile application and marketplace (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains the information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and the choices available to you.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Waitlist and communications: your name, email address, whether you are a prospective Client or Creator, your creator category, and the contents of messages you send to us. If you use a supported waitlist form, we derive keyed, pseudonymous identifiers from the normalized email address and request IP address. The email identifier is used for an idempotent signup record, and the IP identifier is used for a short rate-limit window. The waitlist record contains the email address, but the rate-limit record does not contain the raw IP address.
- Account and profile information: your name, email address, role, display name, bio, city, profile photo, cover media, portfolio photos and videos, pricing, services, availability, and service area.
- Bookings and user content: booking requests and details, event date and type, location, prices, pricing-policy version, in-app messages, reviews, reports, blocks, feedback, and other content you submit.
- Payments and payouts: booking amounts, authorization and capture state, refunds, disputes, transaction history, and Creator transfer and payout status. Stripe collects payment-card, bank, identity-verification, and tax information directly. Comparsa does not receive or store full card or bank-account numbers.
Information collected through the Service
- Location: if you choose "Detect city," the app uses your device's approximate location to suggest a city. A city may be saved to your profile or preferences. Comparsa does not request precise or background location.
- Device, log, and diagnostic information: our hosting and service providers may process IP address, browser type, referrer, approximate country, device and operating-system information, request logs, and crash or error data. Firebase Crashlytics helps us diagnose and fix app crashes.
- Website delivery and measurement: Cloudflare handles requests to comparsa.app and currently reverse-proxies the public site to Firebase Hosting. Cloudflare and Firebase Hosting may process technical request information and provide security, delivery, and aggregate traffic information such as page views, referrers, browser type, and country. The current canonical public-site source does not load third-party advertising, font, or stock-photo services.
We do not use advertising cookies, the iOS advertising identifier, or cross-app advertising trackers.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- manage the waitlist and contact you about launch, early access, or the founding Creator program;
- create and secure accounts, authenticate users, and provide support;
- display Creator profiles and portfolios and enable discovery;
- process booking requests, payment authorizations, captures, refunds, disputes, Creator balance transfers, and related payout status;
- deliver messages, reviews, and other marketplace features;
- enforce our Terms, prevent fraud and abuse, and protect users and the Service;
- diagnose errors, improve performance, and understand aggregate website use;
- comply with law, tax, accounting, and legal-process requirements; and
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use personal information to track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising.
How We Disclose Information
We may disclose information to:
- Other users: public Creator profile and portfolio information is visible to users of the Service. Booking information and messages are disclosed to the parties to a booking. Reviews may identify the reviewer and Creator.
- Service providers: Google Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, database, storage, functions, hosting, and crash reporting; Stripe for payments, payouts, identity verification, disputes, and tax reporting; Resend for supported transactional and waitlist email; and Cloudflare for website delivery, security, proxy routing, and aggregate measurement.
- Professional advisers and authorities: advisers, courts, regulators, law enforcement, or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect safety or rights, investigate abuse, or handle a legal claim.
- Business transaction participants: a buyer, investor, successor, or adviser in connection with a proposed or completed financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.
We may also disclose information at your direction or with your consent.
Retention and Account Deletion
We keep waitlist information while you remain subscribed and as reasonably needed for launch outreach. If you unsubscribe through a supported link, the current service deletes the signup's name, email, role, category, source, and confirmation fields and retains a minimal suppression record with the unsubscribe and update timestamps. Short-lived pseudonymous rate-limit records expire after their abuse-prevention window.
As a general guide, and unless a longer period is required by law or a live dispute, we currently aim to retain: completed booking and transaction records for approximately seven years (tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention); in-app messages while the participants' accounts remain active and for up to three years afterward; reviews for the life of the platform as shared public content; safety, enforcement, and fraud records for approximately five years; support correspondence for approximately three years; waitlist suppression records indefinitely (so an unsubscribe stays honored); and pseudonymous rate-limit records for no more than thirty days. Actual periods may vary where law, a legal hold, or a specific dispute requires otherwise.
We keep account information while your account is active and retain other information only as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
You may request waitlist removal or deletion by emailing support@comparsa.app. App users may also choose Account tab, then Settings, then Delete Account. The in-app flow deletes the Firebase authentication account, user and public profile records, Creator profile and pricing records, availability and service-area records, booking-hide preferences, and profile and portfolio media. Deletion is unavailable while you have a requested or accepted booking or, as a Creator, a captured payment that is still owed to you.
The current deletion process retains completed booking and transaction records for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and dispute purposes. It also retains messages and reviews already shared with other users, including the sender or reviewer identifier, and may retain safety, support, and legal records where needed. Stripe separately retains information associated with its payment and connected-account services under its own policies. Comparsa is reviewing these retention practices before launch. This disclosure describes the current system and does not limit any deletion right provided by applicable law.
Your Choices and Requests
You may update certain profile information in the app. You may leave the waitlist or opt out of launch and promotional email by following the instructions in the message or emailing support@comparsa.app with "unsubscribe." We may still send non-promotional messages needed to operate an account or booking.
You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information by contacting us. We may need to verify your identity and request before responding.
California Privacy Information
California privacy laws may provide eligible residents with rights to know or access, correct, and delete personal information, and to receive information about how it is collected, used, and disclosed. They also prohibit discrimination for exercising applicable privacy rights. Whether particular rights apply can depend on legal thresholds and exceptions. Comparsa has not determined that it meets the thresholds for the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), but we will accept and evaluate California privacy requests sent to support@comparsa.app.
Comparsa does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so we do not currently offer a sale or sharing opt-out. Because we do not engage in those activities, browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals do not change how the Service operates. If our practices change, we will update this policy and honor legally required signals and choices. We do not knowingly allow third parties to collect personal information through the Service over time and across unaffiliated websites for their own behavioral advertising.
Children
The Service is intended only for people age 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and provide any additional notice required by law.
